Local hopes Mathias Boe and Carsten Mogensen have not made it into the men’s doubles final in Odense. The home crowd saw them fighting for every last point until the last one, but it was not enough.
Boe and Mogensen faced world champions Liu Zheng and Zhang Nan (China) in the semi-finals. Liu/Zhang took small advantages in the first set by constantly putting the Danes under pressure, but the Danes kept coming back. Boe and Mogensen even managed to save three set points, which gave them a confidence boost for the second set.
They started the second set with a small lead, but the Chinese made it even. Until 17-17 the game kept on being even with small advantages from either one of the pairs. Boe and Mogensen could then push forward till 21, which made a third set necessary.
Unlucky for them, the Chinese pair found the rhythm of the first set back. Boe and Mogensen kept on fighting but did not withstood the pressure. Surviving four match points was not enough for the Danes to take revenge against Gideon/Sikamuljo (Indonesia) on Japan Open.

Single’s first seeded out of the tournament.
World no. 1 Tai Tzu Ying (Chinese Taipei) is out of the tournament. In a trilling match she lost to 2013 world champion Ratchanok Intanon (Thailand). Intanon will face Akane Yamaguchi (Japan) in the final.
Also first seeded South Korean Son Wan Ho, currently world no.2, lost to his always dangerous compatriot Hyun Il Lee. The experienced Korean already beat Long Chen (China) in the first round and will try to beat Indian Srikanth Kidambi in the final.
Mixed doubles is the only event where the first seeded made it to the final. Zheng Siwei and Chen Qingchen (China) will try to full fill that expectation against Tang Chung Man and Tse Ying Suet (Hong Kong China).
The Women’s doubles final will be between Lee So Hee/Shin Seung Chang (South Korea) and Shiho Tanaka/Koharu Yonemoto (Japan)
